The Jazz Room is a volunteer-run jazz club hosted by a local restauranteur. Tickets are sold at the door, but committed jazz fans can instead buy an annual Jazz Pass to all regular shows. The pass saves patrons money and time while giving the club an up-front payment towards its costs of operation.
The club needed a way to easily sell passes for a short period of time each year. An enhanced PayPal buy button was selected as there was no monthly fee and a simple one line form could be created to obtain the name to appear on the pass (which is not necessarily that of the purchaser). PayPal allowed a fixed number of passes to be made available and to give alerts to the pass program manager that numbers were running low. The system was implemented and has been in continuous use since 2012.
This project was undertaken while I was the volunteer webmaster of the Jazz Room.
